The oil is extracted by steam distillation from the flowering herb.

Description

Pale yellow or greenish. It has a strong grassy-minty, camphoraceous smell.

Uses

Skin care:-	acne, dermatitis, ringworm, scabies, toothache
Circulation, muscles and joints:-	neuralgia, muscular pains, palpitations
Respiratory system:-	asthma, bronchitis, sinusitis, spasmodic cough
Digestive system:-	colic, cramp, dysperia, flatulence, nausea
Immune system:-	colds, fever, flu
Nervous system:-	fainting, headache, mental fatigue, migraine, nervous stress, vertigo

Also used to treat halitosis, and as an insect repellent.

Cautions

Do not give peppermint to children under 5. Do not take the essential oil internally except under professional supervision. The essential oil should not be prescribed for children under 12.
